FEAR Scream Park’s Accessibility and Carer’s Guide
This guide will provide a full overview of our Park’s accessibility policy for guests with disabilities. We are dedicated to ensuring all our guests have a safe and enjoyable visit, and we have compiled this guide to help with any questions regarding your visit.
If you need any further information or assistance, then please ensure you visit our shop and admissions team or email helpdesk@avonvalley.co.uk and one of our team members will get back to you.
OUR STATEMENT ON PUBLIC SAFETY FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
We make every effort to ensure that our park and its facilities are accessible to as many of our guests as possible. However, certain attractions have certain health and safety requirements we, as a park, must adhere to. We therefore reserve the right to refuse admission to certain attractions should our team feel there may be a danger to an individual or individuals for whatever reason. We have also been advised by the Health and Safety Executive that refusal on the grounds of health and safety does not constitute discrimination. We hope that you understand and accept all our decisions made in the interest of your safety. Please note that the provision of admission discounts and access facilities is entirely at the discretion of FEAR at Avon Valley Scream Park.
SCREAM PARK INFORMATION
Parking
We have allocated disabled parking near our front entrance, we ask that you only park in these areas if you have a blue badge. There is plenty of parking for all our other visitors. All of our car parking at FEAR at Avon Valley Scream Park is free of charge.
Please be aware, our car park, and some areas within the Scream Park are gravelled with stone and may be uneven in places. The nearest toilets to our car park are inside the Scream Park so please bear with us on entry as we do need to admit your party correctly before allowing you onto site.
Buying Tickets/Entering the Scream Park
The guest with a disability and any other members of their party will pay the full price of whichever ticket they choose. However, the Carer can purchase a Carer Pass – this can only be done by emailing helpdesk@avonvalley.co.uk – this pass will include a 25% discount and will be equivalent to the same tickets bought by the guest with a disability.
Please ensure you email the relevant paperwork (acceptable documentation is below). On the night, please present a suitable photographic ID (provisional/driver’s license or passport) of the named carer to present to our admissions staff when you collect your ticket.
The types of documentation we accept are:
- Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance award letter (dated within the last 12 months)
- Personal Independence Payment letter (dated within the last 12 months)
Unfortunately, a Carer Pass will not be valid or issued on the night without seeing a photographic ID.
A carer must be over the age of 16 and capable of assisting the guest who has the disability. The carer would be expected to understand the disabled person’s condition and assist them in managing it for the duration of the visit.
To purchase or collect prepaid tickets, please join the main queue. Guests who need to also use our Maze Assist Pass (see Maze Assist Pass section for more detail) will have these issued at admissions.
Please ensure you also have the correct paperwork to show the team and they will assist you.
Our admissions queue line is wide enough for wheelchair users but please be aware the Scream Park terrain may be difficult to manoeuvre on.
Guest Services Team
Our Guest Services Team will be able to provide you with advice on access and restrictions to our attractions and provide you with any information you may require about our facilities.
First Aid
First Aid is located towards the front of the park opposite the main entrance. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
MAZE ASSIST PASSES
We offer Maze Assist Passes for guests who may find it difficult to queue due to a disability or condition. This allows access to our mazes via a virtual queuing system for themselves and up to one carer.
How It Works
Guests with a Maze Assist Pass will be issued with a card permitting entry to each attraction. Guests must join the fast track queue and present the card to the Maze Host who will then write down a “virtual queue time” and ask you to come at the return time to join the fast track queue again. Once the guest has joined the virtual queue, they are free to explore the Scream Park but are not permitted to join the queue for any other ride.
Please be aware, you will be given a return time but may have to still queue in the fast track queue line upon your return. We cannot control the movement and flows of our queues, including the maze queue failing to move due to reasons such as a temporary cease of operation.
The pass includes entry into House of Clowns, Malefica, X4, V I T A N O V A and The Core. The Exorcism is not included on the Maze Assist Pass.
Proof of Entitlement to a Maze Assist Pass
Proof of entitlement to a Maze Assist Pass will be needed before our admissions team can present you with a Maze Assist Pass. Please be aware we require to see one of the following forms of documentation (they must be dated within the last 12 months) along with a valid provisional/driver’s license or passport as your ID.:
- A DLA, DWP or PIP letter stating you are entitled to a higher rate mobility allowance.
If you believe that you’re unable to stand in a queue line and you do not have the required documentation, we’re happy to still provide a Maze Assist Pass upon our admissions team seeing a letter from your GP or a Consultant on headed paper that has been dated within the last 12 months and it must clearly state that you’re unable to queue and why (we do not need a letter of diagnosis). We will still require photographic ID for the recipient addressed on the letter.
Please note we are not in a position to assess individuals’ abilities so we must insist that the letter from a medical professional states that you are unable to queue and why, rather than simply confirming your condition.
Carers using a Maze Assist Pass
Only one carer can use the Maze Assist Pass with a disabled guest present at any one time. The carer must pay for a Carer Pass to enter the event – these must be obtained via helpdesk@avonvalley – please see the above “Buying Tickets/Entering the Scream Park” for more details.
As stated before, a carer must be over the age of 16 and capable of assisting the guest who has the disability. The carer would be expected to understand the disabled person’s condition and assist them in the attraction when using a Maze Assist Pass.
Please see Attraction Safety below for more information in regard to our Maze Assist Pass and our restrictions for guests.
